The Duolingo English Test is a computer-based adaptive examination that certifies candidates for admission to higher education institutions in various countries worldwide. This assessment, which includes integrated skill-testing tasks, has a duration of less than one hour. It consists of two primary sections. The first section, known as the adaptive test, lasts approximately 45 minutes and is graded; it assesses the candidate’s listening, reading, writing, and speaking abilities. The subsequent 10-minute segment is a video interview and constitutes the ungraded portion of the test.

A1: The A1 level provides foundational training in interaction and communication. At this introductory stage, individuals are familiarized with their specific roles within a classroom or environment, their public persona, and their capacity to respond to basic inquiries about themselves. Participants will acquire essential skills such as making introductions, asking questions of others, and answering inquiries regarding personal information. Key actions at this level include the correct application of names and pronouns, posing straightforward questions, and providing multiple responses to queries.

A2: Progressing to the A2 level, the German course equips learners with the necessary tools to navigate everyday situations as well as interactions involving acquaintances who possess limited knowledge about them. This level is particularly beneficial for those aiming to enhance their writing and speaking competencies. B1: At the B1 level, students will develop the ability to assimilate new concepts effectively. They will articulate technical terms with clarity and expand their vocabulary repertoire. Participants at this stage will be able to comprehend complex reading materials, consider supporting evidence within context, formulate and assess arguments, and critically evaluate data from professionals in fields pertinent to their area of study. Furthermore, non-EU nationals must meet the B1 requirement before commencing employment in Germany

B2: At the B2 level, individuals will develop a robust comprehension of the fundamental context surrounding increasingly intricate information related to healthcare, media, environmental concerns, and career opportunities.
